Engineering

Director Of Engineering
We're looking for a seasoned engineering lead to design, architect, plan, implement, test, document, and maintain enterprise-wide solution for the total system and subsystems.

Requirements:

  • At least 9 years of software development experience in a commercial environment.
  • At least 6 years of experience in object-oriented analysis, design and development.
  • At least 4 years of experience in a relational database environment, including Postgres , Oracle, MS SQL Server. Experience in data replication is a plus.
  • At least 4 years of demonstrable Java/J2EE web application development experience, specifically in Servlets , JSP, JSP custom tags, EJB, RMI, JDBC.
  • Experience in web development and web technologies including PHP, Flash, HTTP, HTML, XML, XSL, Javascript .
  • Experience in distributed system development, enterprise application integration and enterprise security, including JMS, XML, SOAP, Web Services.
  • Strong knowledge of modern networking, hardware technologies and OS.
  • Experience with the full life cycle of product development, from developing and documenting system requirements and design engineering stages through maintenance and sustainment phases.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to work in a multi-cultural team and dynamic environment.
  • Willingness to analyze, identify and propose optimal solutions (software as well as hardware) to technical problems in complex multi-tier software/hardware systems.
  • Ability to meet tight project deadlines, provide accurate time estimates, and generally maintain a high level of personal organization.
  • SUCCESSFUL EXPERIENCE LEADING A SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT TEAM IS NECESSARY.
  • Experience developing POS system would be a huge plus.
  • Experience with Microsoft Visio and Rational Rose also desired.

  • Sr. Software Engineer
    We're looking for a self-starter with extensive programming experience, preferably in the retail industry (i.e., developing POS systems, bar code scanner programs, etc.).

    Requirements:
    At least 6 years of software development experience in a commercial business environment. At least 4 years of web application development using web technologies and services. At least 3 years of Java, Servlet, JSP, EJB, J2EE, JDBC, XML, XSLT. Good object-oriented design and programming experience. Solid experience with Postgres or other RDBMS. Experience developing POS system would be a plus. Experience developing bar code scanner program would also be a plus. Ability to conceptualize solutions to business problems and to implement them under pressure. Solid understanding of information architecture, user interface design, and visual design issues. Willingness to identify and propose optimal solutions to technical problems. Ability to meet tight project deadlines, provide accurate time estimates, and generally maintain a high level of personal organization. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while being able to report accomplishments and issues to your manager in a timely and clear manner. Must demonstrate excellent attitude and professional demeanor. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. BS in Computer Science or equivalent.

     

    Software Engineer
    Develop and modify enterprise computer software products, including server side application. Use C++, Perl, HTML, XML, and other state-of-the-art object-oriented design and programming tools to evaluate interfaces, operational and performance requirements, and to formulate and design computer software applications and web-based applications.

    Requirements:
    Master of Science degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or related field, plus 1 year of experience in the job offered or related position in software engineering/software development.

     

    IT Engineer / DBA

    Background and Experience Required:
  • Experience with Linux/Gentoo, Redhat, Solaris, Apache, Security   SSL SSL, Firewall, Shell Scripting.

    Operations

    Retail Operations Manager

    Background and Experience Required:
  • 2 years minimum experience in Store Management
  • 5 Years retail experience, Specialty store background a strong plus
  • Variety of industry experience preferred
  • Must be able to work weekends and evenings
  • Change agent in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment
  • Multiple store management exp preferred
  • IT / Computer savvy preferred (the savvier the better).

    Job Description:
    Ensure that each individual launch works within the context of the location. The retail locations will be varied, so a familiarity with multiple retailing environments is a plus. The Retail Operations Manager will both be responsible for the successful operations of each location, and for providing feedback for the market expansion plans for those environments. Create and maintain an atmosphere where the sales associates deliver on the value and service promise of DVD Station. Conduct initial training and periodic coaching sessions to communicate objectives, set goals and follow up on progress. Identify business issues and opportunities to DVD Station corp staff. This may include line extensions, new retail location opportunities, service improvement opportunities, and the like. Ensure that inventory control policies and procedures are followed. Perform periodic inventory check as required (largely automated). Monitor operations and ensure adherence to operational policies. Pursue and eliminate variances to policy. Facilitate the orientation and training of all new employees. Administer all training programs for customer service, system usage and operations. Develop staff excellence through coaching and direction.


    Marketing

    Marketing Communications Associate

    Background and Experience Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, or related field.
  • 2 to 3 years previous work experience as a marketing communications or public relations professional
  • You must have 2+ years experience writing company press releases.
  • Demonstrated superior writing and editing skills
  • Understanding of and experience with communication disciplines such as graphic design, advertising, marketing and public relations.
  • Strong design eye, editing skills and attention to detail
  • Basic understanding of graphic design and page layout principles are needed.
  • Experience with print layout, pre-press and production.
  • Experience in marketing retail products   bot both in-store and for web-based products and services.
  • Excellent project management, communications, and interpersonal skills.

    Job Description:
  • Develop, write, edit and syndicate all corporate press announcements
  • Perform various writing assignments including internal and external publications
  • Manage and develop the corporate website including content, layout, messaging brand representation and positioning
  • Create and manage corporate marketing kit and development of other company collateral materials.
  • Maintain the corporate image and branding efforts, both internally and externally.
  • Ensure consistency and appropriate delivery of all public-facing messaging
  • Input traffic, user activity and subscription data into excel tracking spreadsheets.
  • Assist in implementing search engine optimization improvements with other functional groups.
  • Ensure accurate audience measurement by Comscore/Media Metrix and Nielsen/Netratings.

    We are seeking an energetic accountant with experience in publicly traded companies. Currently, we only need assistance on a part-time basis, but the position may become full-time as our business grows.

    Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting
  • CPA (active status)
  • Solid GAAP knowledge and ability to research, recommend and apply standards
  • Five to eight years experience in a general ledger accounting group
  • Experience in software industry and/or retail experience needed
  • Experience with NetLedger and Oracle financials a huge plus
