The DVD Station system is scalable, resilient, and robust. With a breadth of capabilities such as remote maintenance and real-time sales monitoring, the system is intelligent and flexible enough to accommodate a multitude of retail environments and variable consumer usage levels.
Managed Deployment
With its rapid deployment capabilities and low training costs, the DVD Station solution enables retailers and location managers to achieve optimal returns in the following areas:
Robust Network Architecture
In the retail environment, the upfront cost of hardware is only one small part of the TCO equation. The DVD Station system is engineered to eliminate the points of failure that exist in many point-of-sale systems. Each DVD Station location operates on its own secure network, with an on-site media and transaction server. Architecture allows for a rich, immersive brand experience without the typical system delays inherent in traditional POS technoloies. The entire system is easily scalable and can be deployed with any number of servers and clients.
Moreover, all operations are remotely monitored – allowing DVD Station to identify, troubleshoot and resolve most problems before they disrupt the customer experience.
Enterprise Class Reporting
DVD Station provides retailers with analytical tools that facilitate the monitoring of business results via a standard web browser. Such web-based reporting allows for a full range of capabilities – from standard transactional reporting to customized metrics based on a particular retailer's model.
Remote Network Operations
Store systems are centrally monitored from the DVD Station Network Operations Center (NOC). From the NOC, DVD Station engineers can remotely update systems and troubleshoot technical problems – without incurring the delay or cost associated with sending a technician to be physically present at the store location.
Secure and Trusted Network
Each customer transaction is managed securely within the local store network protecting sensitive credit card data from vulnerability at the store-level. In transmitting critical data to the central servers, DVD Station provides the following security measures:
· Encrypted communications, via the DVD Station Virtual Private Network (VPN) for all customer and transaction data
· CISP compliance for third parties who handle cardholder data, such as back-up companies
· Full employee and business affiliate compliance with the Video Privacy Protection Act of 1988
· Strict policies for internal data administration, information security, and data management
Central Back-Up System
To provide additional system reliability, each station incorporates a central back-up system for all store level data. Moreover, retail locations are able to operate independent of the central operations server reducing interdependency. The system also has a standalone power source separate from the main source in the event of an emergency outage.
